A new public carpark, which is located in the basement of Mong Ha Sports Centre, came into service earlier this week.

The Transport Bureau (DSAT) made the announcement in a statement on Monday.

Mong Ha Sports Centre is a redeveloped high-rise sports complex which opened to the public late last year.

According to the statement, the Mong Ha Sports Centre Carpark, which came into use on Tuesday, has three underground levels, namely the first, second and third basement floors, providing a total of 476 public parking spaces that consist of 264 for cars and 212 for motorcycles.

The statement said that the Mong Ha Sports Centre Carpark has the same charging scheme as various other public carparks across the city, according to which cars are charged six patacas per hour during the day (from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.) and three patacas per hour during the night (from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. the next day), while motorcycles are charged two patacas per hour during the day and 1.00 pataca per hour during the night.

The two regulations on the use and operations of two new public carparks, the Mong Ha Sports Centre Carpark and the Toi Fai Building Carpark, were published in the Official Gazette (BO) on September 5. The two regulations took effect the next day, i.e., September 6, after their respective promulgations in the Official Gazette.

Toi Fai Building is a newly-completed social rental housing project in Toi San district. The government’s public housing programme comprises subsidised home-ownership scheme (HOS) flats and social rental housing units.

While the Toi Fai Building Carpark came into service on September 9, i.e., four days after its regulation was promulgated, the Mong Ha Sports Centre Carpark opened to drivers and motorbike riders on Tuesday.

The Toi Fai Building Carpark has two levels, namely the first and second floor of the building, providing a total of 224 public parking spaces that comprise 105 for cars and 119 for motorcycles.
