A 20-year-old local man, already involved in an alleged drug trafficking case under investigation by the Public Prosecution Office (MP), has been detained again for smuggling ketamine from the mainland, a Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesperson said in a special press conference yesterday.

The local suspect, surnamed Leong, told police that he is unemployed and lives in the mainland.

The spokesperson said the police received a tip-off on Tuesday that someone would be smuggling drugs through the Zhuhai-Macau Cross-Border Industrial Zone’s immigration checkpoint. At about 2 a.m. yesterday, PJ officers saw Leong acting suspiciously when entering Macau through the 24/7 checkpoint.
