The 2022 CTA Tour SJM Professional Finals (Macau) and National Tennis Championships will be held from today until December 11 at the Macau Tennis Academy in Cotai, with the event featuring the top 16 nationally ranked players in the mainland competing for top prizes.
The players will compete across four categories, which are men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles and women’s doubles, with the tournament’s finals being held in Macau for the second consecutive year.
Speaking with reporters after the press conference for the event at the Grand Lisboa Palace yesterday, Sports Bureau (ID) President Pun Weng Kun told reporters that the event, which will also be broadcast live, is one the major national tennis tournaments and is very meaningful.
Pun noted that the event will have around 200 people who are involved in the event such as players, officials and referees coming to Macau, which he noted was favourable for the city. Being the second year that the event will be hosted in Macau, Pun said that this could show that the city is able to host international events and is a safe place for tourists.
