Two attempted extortion cases involving two local men in online naked chats were separately reported to the police by the respective victims last week, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Chan Wun Man said at a regular press conference on Monday.

According to Chan, a local man met a female on a social media platform last Tuesday, after which she invited him to watch her live nude stream for half an hour. The victim said he had not taken off his clothes during the session.

The female invited him to chat in the nude on Friday night again, when the victim undressed. After the session finished, the female asked whether the victim wanted to have casual sex and sent him a link to a website for further contact.

The victim then filled in his personal information on the website, after which he received a video taken during the naked chat, demanding HK$16,576, with the scammer threatening that the video would be released to the victim’s friends if he failed to pay up.

Meanwhile, another local man met a female last Wednesday on a social media platform as well where the woman said that she was offering a “remote control sex toy” service and asking him to chat in the nude.

The man denied the request, but instead sent her a video of him in the nude.  The scammer used the video on Friday demanding that he pay HK$13,000, Chan said.

Neither victim paid up and both reported their cases to the police at once.
