The contractor of the Grand Lisboa Palace construction site pledged yesterday to rehire local cleaners who complained to the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) on Monday that they had been laid off after working for just two or three days, lawmaker-cum-unionist Ella Lei Cheng I said.
Lei told The Macau Post Daily in a phone interview yesterday that the contractor of the construction site, representatives of the Macau Federation of Trade Unions (commonly known as Gung Luen) and representatives of the Grand Lisboa Palace had met the local cleaners yesterday.
During the meeting, representatives of Grand Lisboa Palace and the contractor promised that they would rehire all the local cleaners that had been laid off and could return to work today after signing their new employment contracts and going through some formalities about working on a construction site.
