A police officer attending an instructor training course at the Macau Public Security Forces’ (FSM) shooting range in Coloane was rushed to the public Conde de São Januário Hospital for emergency treatment at about 10 a.m. yesterday after he was shot and injured in the right thigh during the training course, according to an FSM statement.
According to the statement, the victim, who joined the Public Security Police (PSP) in 1997, sustained lacerations on his right thigh. The statement added that the patient was in a stable condition.
The statement underlined that the training course, which was divided into theoretical and practical marksmanship, strictly followed the relevant safety rules of the shooting range, stressing that all the trainees have completed the theoretical part and all the officers had been practising marksmanship for several days.
The statement underlined that the Public Security Forces are highly concerned about the incident and are reviewing the training course’s safety measures to prevent such incidents from happening again.
The Public Security Forces and the Public Security Police will conduct a further investigation into the incident to assess the issue, the statement noted.
