A 64-year-old local man was found dead in his flat near the Barrier Gate checkpoint on Monday, the Judiciary Police (PJ) said in a statement that day.
The statement did not disclose the surname of the deceased.
According to the statement, the victim’s neighbour noticed a rotten smell coming from the flat and reported the case to the police. Firefighters arrived at the scene and found that the door was ajar, after which the corpse was found lying on the floor next to his bed.
According to the statement, the deceased had no injuries that could have been caused by foul play, nor were there any signs of a struggle found at the scene. The cause of death will be determined by an official forensic examination, the statement said.
