The Judiciary Police (PJ) received three reports separately from the Fire Services Bureau (CB) and the Public Security Police (PSP) over the past few days that two men had committed suicide by hanging themselves and a man died after cutting his wrists, the Judiciary Police said in three separate statements.

The Judiciary Police received a report on Sunday afternoon that a man had hanged himself on a building’s rooftop on Rua de Nossa Senhora do Amparo.

According to the statement, relatives of the victim, a 68-year-old local man surnamed Lao, went up to the rooftop hut where he lived to check on him earlier that day since he had not come down for lunch, only to find that he hanged himself with a white electrical wire from a beam. A suicide note was found at the scene.

In the second case, a resident discovered the body of a man hanging from a tree yesterday at the sitting-out area of Rua Norte do Patane and reported the case to the police immediately. Police could not find any identification on the victim at the scene, the statement said, adding the victim was a 1.70 metre tall, thin, ethnic Chinese male.

In the third case, a hotel staff member reported to the police on Sunday that they found an unconscious man in a bathtub filled with water in a hotel guestroom in Cotai.

Police identified the deceased as a 35-year-old man surnamed Zhang from the mainland.

Firefighters who arrived at the scene found bloodstains on the bed and in the bathroom, and confirmed that Zhang was dead. No suicide note was found at the scene.

According to the statements, there were no suspected criminal injuries on any of the victims’ bodies, and the exact causes of death would be confirmed after the respective forensic examinations.
