The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said in a statement on Sunday that it hosted a delegation of around 40 Hong Kong tourism leaders  for a two-day familiarisation trip, enabling them to experience Macau’s “tourism+” attractions.

The visit ended yesterday.

According to the statement, the delegation, which arrived by ferry on Sunday, comprised tourism leaders such as representatives of the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong and its member associations and a Legislative Council (LegCo) of the Hong Kong SAR (Functional Constituency – Tourism) member. Moreover, 14 Hong Kong journalists were also invited.

The statement did not identify the LegCo member.

The statement noted that during the two-day trip the delegation met with Macau government officials for a group picture at the Ruins of St. Paul’s and watched various performances such as Portuguese folk dance and listened to songs by local composers. They also watched a performance by the Macao Chinese Orchestra at St. Dominic’s Church (Igreja de São Domingos).

The delegates also visited several places such as MinM Plaza, the UNESCO World Heritage-listed “Historic Centre of Macao”, the Macau Grand Prix Museum and the facilities of Macau’s various integrated resorts. The facilities included art space Artelli and restaurant L’ Attitude at City of Dreams, teamLab SuperNature at the Venetian Macao, the Fondant Art Exhibition, Sea Odyssey show and theatre at MGM COTAI.

The statement added that tourism and Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) facilities at Grand Lisboa Palace (GLP), Galaxy Macau and Wynn Macau were also visited.

Meanwhile, the statement said that the delegation also joined a Hong Kong-Macau travel trade networking seminar yesterday, where MGTO, the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), and Economic and Technological Development Bureau (DSEDT) each delivered an overview of tourism and MICE, as well as trade and commerce in Macau.

A separate statement yesterday said that the event was attended by over 160 tourism industry leaders and journalists from Hong Kong and Macau.

Macau’s six integrated casino-hotel resorts also presented their latest developments, the statement noted.
