A local university student was arrested last Friday for damaging and gluing the ignition lock of a motorcycle which he found to be a better and a newer model than his, Public Security Police (PSP) spokeswoman Lai In Hong said at a regular press conference yesterday.
Lai said the suspect surnamed Wong is in his twenties.
According to Lai, a man reported to the police on October 25 that the ignition lock on his motorcycle parked in Rua de Évora in Taipa had been damaged and also had glue squirted into it.
After scrutinising their city-wide CCTV camera system, police identified Wong and intercepted him near Rua de Évora last Friday.
Under questioning, he admitted the wrongdoing and said that he damaged the motorcycle out of envy, because it looked better and was a newer model than his.
Wong has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) for questioning, facing a charge of causing property damage, according to Lai.
