Residents are urged to use electronic means to apply for identification documents to avoid having to queue for tickets, the Identification Services Bureau (DSI) said in a statement on Friday.

The statement noted that this is in response to the recent increase in the number of applications for Macau ID cards and Macau Travel Documents.

According to the statement, those with a permanent Macau ID card who are aged 18 or above can renew their IDs by using the self-service kiosk. The kiosks can be found on the first floor of China Plaza in Avenida de Praia Grande, DSI’s service area on the second floor of the Macau Government Services Centre in Areia Preta and the 3rd floor of DSI’s service area in the Macau Government Services Centre in Islands.

Moreover, the statement said that permanent Macau ID card holders aged 25 or above on the latest issuance date of their ID card can renew their IDs by using 24-hour self-service kiosks.

The 24-hour self-service kiosks are located at the DSI’s electronic services area on the ground floor of the China Plaza, the Macau Government Services Centre (24-hour self-service area), the Macau Government Services Centre in Islands, the Islands District Public Services Centre – Seac Pai Van Station, DSI’s self-service station in Seac Pai Van and the government’s 24-hour self-service area in Ponte Negra.

Moreover, Macau ID card holders aged 18 and up can use self-service kiosks or the Macau One Account to apply for Macau Travel Documents for themselves or on behalf of their children who are over five years old on the latest issuance date on their identity card.

The statement added that those who have no plans to travel abroad are recommended to apply for the travel documents at a later time.
