A female motorcycle passenger died on Wednesday last week after the rider had a crash with a car in Cotai on the previous day, the authorities announced at that time.

According to statements from the Fire Services Bureau (CB) and the Public Security Police (PSP) on Tuesday last week, the accident occurred at around 3:30 p.m. on that day on Rotunda da Piscina Olímpica, the roundabout near the Aquatic Centre of the Olympic Sports Centre and the Galaxy Macau casino-hotel resort.

The motorcycle was driven by a 73-year-old local man with his wife, a 67-year-old local woman, as pillion according to the statements.

The woman suffered head injuries, while her husband sustained injuries to his right hand and right ankle, according to the statements.

The car driver, a man in his fifties, and passengers were not injured in the crash.

The motorcycle rider and pillion were rushed to the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre for emergency treatment. However, the Public Security Police announced in a statement on Wednesday last week that the woman died in the hospital earlier that day after treatment to save her life had failed.

The motorbike rider was in a stable condition when he was taken to the hospital.

According to last Tuesday’s statements, both the car driver and the motorbike rider passed a breathalyser test.

The police have launched an investigation into the exact cause of the accident.
