Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Chong Kam Lon said in a statement that PJ officers were notified by the Fire Services Bureau (CB) yesterday that a male corpse was found in a flat of a residential building on Rua do General Ivens Ferraz.
According to the statement, the 79-year-old male surnamed Leong was a Macau resident who lived alone.
The statement noted that his ex-wife called the police after she went to his home to visit him yesterday, but no one answered the door and a foul smell was emanating from the flat.
The statement added that after firefighters broke open the locked gate of the flat, they found Leong, who was dead.
According to a preliminary examination of the body, no suspicious or criminal injuries were found on the deceased, the statement said.
The case was listed as dead body found. The cause of death still needs to be confirmed by forensic examination. The case has been transferred to the PJ Investigation Section for follow-up, according to the statement.
