The Chinese New Year, also known as Spring Festival, is the most important festival celebrated in China from the first day of the 1st lunar month to the 15th day of the 1st lunar month annually. It is a precious time when all family members gather to experience the joyful moments. Our family has a must-go to location – and that is Disneyland.
Travelling to Hong Kong Disneyland used to be one of my essential journeys in past Chinese New Years. It has always been a remarkable place for me. I consider a trip to Disneyland as one of the most unforgettable occasions in my lifetime to date.
I went to Disneyland with my parents for the first time when I was three years old during the Chinese New Year. Until this day, I still have the images of characters like Mickey Mouse, Cinderella and Goofy in my mind. They were moving around and even saying “Hi” to me. Back then I really believed that these Disney characters were authentic and I wanted to live in Disneyland with those characters forever.
I had not been to Disneyland since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I could only stay in Macau, which made me feel quite disappointed and bored. I had been waiting for ages to go to Disneyland. Time dragged on, but after three years of waiting, I could finally go to Disneyland again during the Chinese New Year. This is probably the first lucky and cheerful event that has happened in 2023.
I went to Disneyland in January. Things remain as if I had returned home. Although the hour-long waiting time to take eye-catching photos and riding on the high-speed roller coaster made me cringe, the sparkling fireworks at night outweighed everything else. The fireworks rounded off the day in an explosion of light and ended a pleasurable day.
Disneyland has always been a magical place for me. The breath-taking views, attractive characters and exhilarating facilities like the roller coaster are the reason why I love Disneyland with all my heart. Spending time with families and friends in Disneyland during the Chinese New Year is most likely the best event ever.
