The two-day City University of Macau’s (CityU) career fair kicked off on its campus in Taipa yesterday, offering nearly 5,000 vacancies in over 110 enterprises and so-called employment demonstration bases from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA), among which 49 are local exhibitors and 61 are from the mainland.
Sectors covered include hospitality, banking, finance, retail, information technology (IT)) and artificial intelligence (AI), according to yesterday’s kick-off ceremony at the Luso Chinese Garden complex on the Taipa campus, which noted that a number of thematic seminars and workshops concerning entrepreneurship policies and innovative products and services from different parts of the GBA will be held on the second day of the career fair, i.e., today.
The ceremony was hosted by Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) Director Chan Un Tong, Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) Higher Education Department Chief Carlos Roberto Xavier and Deputy Director of the University Office under the Education and Youth Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macau Xu Zhiping, as well as the CityU’s Vice Chairman of its University Council Ung Choi Kun and Pro-rector Robert Chan Chon Pat, among other CityU and government representatives.
Robert Chan said in a speech during the ceremony that CityU will endeavour to build a platform for the integration between industry, education and research among the local government, university and enterprises, and continue to strive for more internships and opportunities for students to seek employment and start their own businesses.
He addressed his students by saying, “In today’s rapidly changing society and highly competitive employment situation, young people must adhere to the spirit of pragmatism and enterprise, flexibility, bravery to try, dare to deal with various problems and give full play to their self-worth.”
