The local government’s effort to diversify the economy away from gaming has attracted Australians to come to Macau for work, business and travel, Australian Consul-General to Hong Kong and Macau Paul Tighe said yesterday.
Tighe made the comments while speaking to The Macau Post Daily prior to attending a farewell reception in his honour at Galaxy Macau organised by AustCham’s Macau Business Network.
Over the past five years as down under’s top diplomat in Hong Kong and Macau, Tighe said that he had always been impressed with the amount of growth and construction in Macau.
