The St. Regis Macao is presenting its restyled “Afternoon Tea Set”, which is available exclusively at The St. Regis Bar, the hotel said in a statement on Wednesday.

The statement noted that the tea set is available daily and immerses one in the tradition of Caroline Astor, the mother of St. Regis founder John Jacob Astor IV. Afternoon teas were a tradition for the Astors, being an intimate gathering with their closest friends.

Each St. Regis address today has its own interpretation of this “quintessential ritual”, according to the statement.

St. Regis Macao and Sheraton Grand Macao Multi-Property Vice President Janet McNab was quoted by the statement as saying that “our restyled tea ritual at The St. Regis Bar offers an indulgent experience where luminaries may delight in gourmet delicacies ranging from savoury to sweet while sipping a refreshing cup of coffee, tea, or a glittering glass of Champagne.

The set features savoury delicacies such as finger sandwiches and freshly baked scones from rye bread with Tunworth cheese, a traditional soft handmade cheese from England with a creamy and truffley texture.

Other savoury options also include the beef and oyster puff as well as the coronation chicken white sesame bloomer, which the statement said is a cylindrical English bread with a crunchy crust and a soft, white interior

Meanwhile, the selection of sweet pastries and cakes include a Victoria sandwich, lemon posset, salted caramel and coffee éclair, the 1884 Battenberg cake and the Innsbruck Sachertorte.

The statement said that the 1884 Battenberg cake is a light British cake consisting of chequered pink and yellow squares of genoise sponge coated with apricot jam and almond paste.

The Innsbruck Sachertorte, meanwhile, has two layers of spongy chocolate cake, with a layer of apricot jam inside, covered entirely in a dark chocolate glaze.

An optional Billecart-Salmon Champagne Tea Set is also available and includes two glasses of Champagne, the statement said.
