Gaming resort operator Melco Resorts & Entertainment said in a statement yesterday that through its “Simple Acts of Kindness 2.0” volunteering initiative and in conjunction with its partner non-governmental organisations (NGOs), around 290 of its volunteers have dedicated almost 600 hours to over 800 local children, women and senior beneficiaries in the spring season.
According to the statement, the events include hair cutting services for Chong Pak Taipa Centre and the Macau Federation of Trade Unions (FAOM) Ka Ao Nursing Home’s seniors and hosting new year snack making workshops with seniors and children who are beneficiaries of the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau (UGAMM) Elderly Caring Service Network and the FAOM Community Centre “Tamagnini Barbosa”.
FAOM is commonly known as Gung Luen in Cantonese and UGAMM Kai Fong.
Moreover, the statement noted that the company also hosted Chinese New Year (CNY) of the Rabbit money box making workshops with UGAMM Centro Lok Chon and Macau Special Olympic at Kids’ City’s beneficiaries; and cleaning services for Pou Tai Integrated Service Centre for Elderly and UGAMM – Cheng I Elderly Integrated Service Centre – Cheng Chong Building.
The company also held its annual activities such as visiting beneficiaries of key NGO partners and centres such as the Women’s General Association of Macau, Caritas Macau’s Asilo de São Francisco Xavier Home for the Aged, among others, the statement added.
Moreover, the volunteers also went to Escola de S. José Ka Ho, Pou Tai Integrated Service Centre for the Elderly and Fuhong Society – Happy Art Studio and hosted craft making workshops, the statement said.
