The Judiciary Police (PJ) were notified by the Public Security Police (PSP) at 6:27 a.m. yesterday that a 41-year-old non-resident worker (NRW) from the mainland was certified dead by the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre after “falling” from a building’s rooftop on Rua da Fábrica, PJ spokesman Ho Chan Nam said in a statement.
According to the statement, the male victim surnamed Mei lived in a flat in the building with his colleagues.
One of his colleagues, whose gender was not revealed, told the police that he or she chatted briefly with Mei at 1 a.m. yesterday when the victim did not show any abnormalities. The colleague added that he or she saw Mei get up and leave their bedroom four hours later, and never returned.
The statement said that no suicide note was found at the scene.
A preliminary examination of the body showed that the injuries of multiple fractures were consistent with a fall from a height, according to the statement, which pointed out that there were no suspected criminal injuries on the body.
The exact cause of death would be confirmed after a forensic examination, the statement said, adding that the case was listed as a dead body found.
