The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) said in a statement on Friday that it has optimised the “My library” app along with the Macau Public Library to have more features such as online payment, library card application and renewal, as well as multi-account management.

Members of the public, according to the statement, can now pay fees for overdue, lost or broken items through the “MPay” or “BOC Mobile Banking” apps before borrowing again or renewing any books or audio-visual materials.

The statement noted that the optimised library card application or renewal services enable users to input specific personal information and upload images of their IDs to the app, after which a review and approval process will be completed by the Macau Public library within two days.

Meanwhile, in multi-account management, the statement said, users can add other accounts to the app based on their needs and easily manage their accounts.

The app aims to assist residents in handling procedures without visiting the library and encourages city-wide reading. The statement added that it also enables convenient access to library resources such as borrowing and renewing books, catalogue viewing, updating oneself about the Macau Public Library’s news and services, among others.

The app can be downloaded in the Apple Store or on Google Play. More information can be found by calling 2893 007 or 2856 7576 during office hours or visiting www.library.gov.mo.
