The Judiciary Police (PJ) were notified by the Fire Service Bureau (CB) at 11:13 a.m. yesterday that human bones were found on a south-facing slope of Estrada do Altinho de Ka Ho in Coloane, PJ spokesman Chan Wun Man said in a statement.

According to the statement, Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) staff found what they believed to be a human skull during their greening work in the area at about 9 a.m. yesterday, so they immediately notified their superiors and called the police.

PJ officers carried out an excavation of the site, where they discovered an entire skeleton clad in a coat, trousers, sneakers and a men’s watch, the statement said, adding that a rucksack and a nylon rope suspected to have belonged to the deceased were found near the skeleton, but there were no identification documents.

PJ officers still need to confirm the person’s gender and determine the approximate age and cause of death by submitting the skeleton to a forensic examination, according to the statement.

The case has been listed as skeleton found, the statement noted.
