Book collections for the upcoming “Book Exchange” activity, which is part of the “City of Reading Series of Activities – Macao Library Week 2023”, was launched yesterday, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) said in a statement.

Collections will last until April 9 and opens from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Mondays, and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. from Tuesdays to Sundays. Public holidays are excluded, according to the statement.

The statement noted that those interested in participating can take their book selections to: Macao Central Library, the Library in Ho Yin Garden, Sir Robert Ho Tung Library, the S. Lourenço Library, the Patane Library, the Red Market Library, the Ilha Verde Library, the Mong Há Library, the Wong Ieng Kuan Library in Areia Preta Urban Park, the Taipa Library and the Seac Pai Van Library.

The statement said that participants can then receive a “Stamped Scorecard” and exchange books of equivalent value at the Macau Cultural Centre (CCM) and Seac Pai Van Library, which are the Book Exchange venues, from April 22-23.

The statement noted that staff will categorise the books in line with their original price. The scoring method is one point for every 10 patacas, while the score for books worth less will be rounded off. The price per book is calculated separately and that the scorecard will be stamped for each point, according to the statement.

The statement added that the maximum score for each book or set is 100 points, while books without a price will be valued at 10 patacas.

Meanwhile, the statement underlined that textbooks, exercise books, magazines, pornographic publications, books related to religion, calligraphy copybooks, IT books published over one year ago, travel books published before 2021, among others, are not “in the scope of this book exchange”.

Moreover, participation by collective bodies is not accepted, the statement said.
