Seven locals, comprising six women and a man aged between 18 and 23 have been cheated out of a total of 48,000 patacas after failing to receive concert tickets they purchased online, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Chan Wun Man said in a regular conference yesterday.

Chan said that six of the victims attempted to buy tickets for concert of a foreign music group whose name starts with a B.

According to Chan, after the victims purchased the tickets on websites, which turned out the fake, recently, they either lost contact with the website or received fake tickets. They reported losing from 2,000 to 16,300 patacas.

As reported in The Macau Post Daily yesterday the Judiciary Police stressed in a statement that in order to reduce the risk of fraud, online concert tickets should always be purchased from the organisers or authorised sellers via reputable online sales platforms or their physical outlets. The statement added that those planning to buy tickets online should avoid the “pay first, pick up later” approach, while always keeping relevant chat and bank transfer records after payment.

Anyone suspecting that they have been cheated or been affected by other crimes should immediately call the crime report hotline on 993.
