The Macau Museum of Art (MAM) will hold “Art Weekend 2023” from March 18-19 as part of its 24th anniversary celebrations, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) said in a recent statement.
The museum was established on March 19, 1999.
The statement noted that the two-day event is themed “Art Boundless”, which “symbolises the exploration of all Chinese and foreign art, as well as the creativity and sharing of art without borders”.
The event will feature activities such as “Visual × Music – Interdisciplinary Live Performance”, “Visuals × Images – Documentary Screening”, “Encounter at MAM”, “Family Art Sunday”, “Take a group photo and Share!”, “The Light of Dust – Guided Tour” and “Friends of MAM – Flash Stamp Redemption Activity”, according to the statement.
The “Visual × Music – Interdisciplinary Live Performance” has programme curator Pal Lok work with local visual artist Fan Sai Hong and three Macau musicians to create the interdisciplinary live performance “In the Shadow In the Light”. The statement said that this is inspired by MAM’s annual exhibition “Fang Lijun: The Light of Dust” and will feature original music and “abstract visual elements”.
Meanwhile, the “Visuals × Images – Documentary Screening” will feature three art documentaries: “PAPER & GLUE”, “THE CHINESE LIVES OF ULI SIGG” and “ASCENSION”.
The statement added that the documentaries will enable audiences “to experience the infinite possibilities of artistic imagination, collection and visual presentation of art” from renowned French artist JR, famous collector of contemporary Chinese artworks Uli Sigg and emerging documentary director Jessica Kingdon.
The statement said that admission to all activities is free, while registration is required for some activities and can be done through the “Macao One Account” at activity.mo.gov.mo/activity-h5/activity-list-web
