The Judiciary Police (PJ) were notified by the Fire Services Bureau (CB) at 4:32 a.m. yesterday morning that a 60-year-old woman, who had been rushed to hospital for emergency treatment, was pronounced dead after “falling” from her flat, PJ spokesman Chong Kam Leong said in a statement.

According to the statement, the local victim surnamed Wu lived alone in a flat on Avenida de Lok Koi in Coloane.

The statement said that after entering the victim’s flat for investigation, PJ officers found that a window in the living room was open and suspected that she had “fallen” from there to the building’s podium on the second floor yesterday morning, after which she was rushed to the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre where she was pronounced dead after emergency treatment to save her life had failed.

According to yesterday’s PJ statement, initial examinations showed that the woman had no injuries that could have been caused by foul play, and neither had she any suspicious injuries.

The exact cause of death would be confirmed after a forensic examination, the statement said, adding that the case was listed as a dead body found.

No suicide note was found at the scene, the statement said.

People contemplating suicide, or those suspecting that a person is at risk of suicide, may phone Caritas Macau’s Life Hope Hotline (2852 5222) or the Social Welfare Bureau’s (IAS) 24-hour Counselling Hotline (2826 1126).
