Visitors rise 121 pct in Jan-Feb

Macau’s number of visitor arrivals rose by 121.6 percent year on year to 2.99 million in the first two months of the year, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) has announced. 

According to a DSEC statement on Friday, overnight visitors rose by 217.0 percent to 1.66 million, while same-day visitors grew by 61.2 percent to 1.33 million between January and February. 

Overnight visitors’ length of stay decreased by 0.9 day to 2.4 days year on year in January-February. 

In February, visitor arrivals leapt by 143.1 percent year on year and 14.0 percent month on month to 1.59 million. 

Last month’s visitor arrivals included one million from the mainland, up by 64.8 percent year on year, and 523,271 from Hong Kong. Visitors from Hong Kong and Taiwan (22,411) jumped by 1,163 percent and 372 percent respectively. 

Visitors from the mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan accounted for 97.2 percent of Macau’s total number of visitor arrivals last month.
