In order to make civil society more aware of the youth business movement and also to promote the mission, vision and values of the Junior Chamber International (JCI), a local group – Hou Kong Junior Chamber – will launch a raft of activities under the theme of “ONE TEAM ONE MISSION” to commemorate its 35th anniversary this year, according to a press conference held by the group yesterday at the Macau Federation of Neighbourhood Associations’ GroupPoint Youth Centre on Avenida do General Castelo Branco.
The Macau Federation of Neighbourhood Associations is known as Kai Fong in Cantonese.
Representatives of the group said during the press conference that for 35 years since it was set up in 1988, the group has been concerned with current social affairs and focused on youth development. They underlined that the group’s different work plans are pursuing diversified development around four major areas – international, social, business and individual affairs – aiming to generate a “positive impact” for civil society, while providing a leading platform and international opportunities for local young people.
The press conference noted that among the four major areas, social affairs would continue to focus on the togetherness of Macau’s young and older generations with its “Joy Run with Seniors” on May 20 as a brand event, as well as the “35 Day Companion Programme”, which is slated to start on June 25, as a platform for both young people and seniors, where the participants will attempt to make good use of the elders’ rich life experience and youngsters’ novel thinking to “challenge” the 35-day series of activities together and complete the 3.5-km joy run. The event’s content will be written as “a white paper”, according to the press conference.
With the aim of attracting overseas entrepreneurs and enabling young local people to understand the uniqueness of financial technology, the group’s upcoming “Sustainable Financial Technology (FinTech) and Tourism and Leisure Development Summit” will be held on August 12 in conjunction with experts from the Asia-Pacific region and the Greater Bay Area (GBA). The summit aims to provide fintech solutions benefiting the local tourism industry, the representatives said.
Concerning international affairs, the group will assist young local people in attending the “JCI Asia and Pacific Regional Conference” in Jakarta, as well as the “World Conference” in Zurich in Switzerland, later this year, according to the press conference, which noted that the second phase of its “Leading Pioneer” activity will be held to standardise future courses and public relations, so as to assist young people in their workplace performance and also to cultivate talents.
The group will also update the general public on the group’s latest activities through its online publication “Hou Kong Newsletter”, as well as the newly launched 35th-anniversary series of stories and short interviews with the media in “Hou Kong Focus”.
