FM Commissioner Liu Xianfa briefs media, foreign reps on ‘two sessions’

Foreign Ministry Commissioner Liu Xianfa yesterday briefed representatives of Macau’s Portuguese- and English-language media, consul-generals, Forum Macao representatives and representatives from the Macao European Chamber of Commerce, United Nations University International Institute for Software Technology and Typhoon Committee Secretariat about the recent “two sessions” in Beijing. 

The 1 ½-hour briefing in English was held at the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR) in Zape. 

Some two dozen representatives attended the well-prepared and visually well-presented briefing. 

The “two sessions” are held concurrently by the National People’s Congress (NPC) and National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) every spring in Beijing. 

Liu is a member of the CPPCC National Committee. 

Among other things, Liu explained President Xi Jinping’s whole-process people’s democracy concept and the significance of the “two sessions” for Macau. He also underlined China’s successful poverty alleviation, sustainable economic development, national rejuvenation and modernisation and innovation efforts, as well as the nation’s commitment to building a human community with shared future and multilateralism in international relations.
