A male motorcycle rider died late last night after crashing with a car in Taipa, the authorities announced.
The motorbike passenger was seriously injured, while the car driver was only slightly hurt.
According to statements from the Fire Services Bureau (CB) and the Public Security Police (PSP), the accident occurred at around 11 p.m. on Rotunda do Estádio, the roundabout near Macau Stadium.
The motorcycle rider and pillion, both males, suffered multiple fractures, after which they were rushed to the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre for emergency treatment. However, the PSP statement said, the rider later died in the hospital after treatment to save his life had failed.
The car driver, who sustained slight injuries, declined to be taken to hospital for treatment. He passed a breathalyser test.
The police have launched an investigation into the exact cause of the accident.
