Civil aviation authority gets new chief

The government has appointed Pun Wa Kin, who had been the vice-president of the Macau Civil Aviation Authority (AACM), as its president effective from today, succeeding Simon Chan Weng Hong who has become the chairman of the Macau International Airport Company Limited’s (CAM) executive committee.

According to an executive order published in the Official Gazette (BO) yesterday, Secretary for Transport and Public Works Raimundo do Rosário, who oversees the Macau Civil Aviation Authority, has appointed Pun for a one-year term effective from today. Rosário signed the executive order on Friday last week.

Chan had headed the Macau Civil Aviation Authority since 2006.

According to yesterday’s executive order about his appointment, Pun holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kansas (KU), and a master’s degree in Public Administration jointly awarded by Peking University and the National Academy of Governance.

Pun had been the AACM vice-president since June 2019. The Macau Civil Aviation Authority has only one vice-president in its organisational structure.

According to yesterday’s executive order, Pun holds pilot licences issued by Macau’s and Australia’s authorities.

Pun started to work in the Macau Civil Aviation Authority in 1998.

According to a separate executive order by Rosário published in the Official Gazette yesterday, Chan has been newly appointed as a member of CAM’s board of directors.

Moreover, Chan has also been newly appointed as a member of CAM’s executive committee. Chan has also been appointed as the executive committee’s chairman.

According to the executive order, Ma Iao Hang has been reappointed as the chairman of CAM’s board of directors.

Chan has now replaced Deng Jun as the chairman of CAM’s executive committee.
