Large-scale art installations featuring blossoming flowers in springtime curated by six artists from the Macau Youth Art Association are being showcased in an exhibition at the Grand Lisboa Palace (GLP) from today through September, according to a recent statement by SJM Resorts.
The statement said that the six artists taking part in the “Blossoms at Grand Lisboa Palace – A Group Exhibition by Macau’s Emerging Artists” are watercolour artists Julia Lam and Kuok Hoi Leng, gongbi painting specialist Leong Kit Man, Liu Xinjue, whose works emphasise healing and beauty, as well as Dor Lio and Chiang Wai Lan who are well-known for their fairy tale artistic styles.
Gongbi (工筆) is a traditional Chinese realistic painting characterised by fine brushwork and close attention to detail, according to The Pinyin Chinese-English Dictionary.
The statement said that instead of showcasing the artists’ separate works, the exhibition will present six large-scale art installations jointly created by the six artists under the theme of flowers in bloom, retaining their unique creative styles.
The six art installations on display are “The Best Moment of a Flower Blossom”, “Favourable Weather for Crops”, “Spring Blossoms”, “Twin Lotus Flowers”, “Appreciating the Beauty of Others”, and “The Graceful Flight of Butterflies”.
