Vietnam’s Viet Bamboo Airlines and Macau Lisboa Travel Service Limited launched their first regular charter flights between Vietnam and Macau yesterday, starting a regular route between Macau and Nha Trang in Vietnam, which will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays until November.
A ceremony was held at the departure hall of the local airport yesterday afternoon by Macau MTP Travel Agency Limited to mark the inauguration of the Macau – Nha Trang Vietnam route.
Speaking at the ceremony, Macau Lisboa Travel Service Limited General Manager Sou Hoi quoted the Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) as saying that the number of visitors to Macau from January to February this year was close to three million, with 74,000 visitors from foreign countries in addition to those from the mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan, reflecting the recovery of Macau’s tourism industry, including the international market.
Sou added that there were 190 passengers on the first flight, mainly Macau residents, and the booking rate for the next few departures was 80 percent, which was “satisfactory”.
In addition, Sou said that the number of air passengers arriving in Macau had returned to 60 to 70 percent of the pre-pandemic level, and that tours departing from Macau were mainly short-haul tours to the mainland, with the cost of tours increasing by 20 to 30 percent due to staffing and hotel room availability.
Nha Trang is a coastal city and the capital of Khánh Hòa province, on the South Central Coast of Vietnam. Nha Trang lies some 1,200 kilometres west of Macau and has 535,000 inhabitants.
