Three groups staged protests and handed in petitions addressed to Premier Li Keqiang yesterday, who arrived in Macau on Monday morning for a three-day inspection visit.
The Pearl Horizon Condominium Owners United Association staged a sit-in protest yesterday morning in front of project developer Polytec’s headquarters in Areia Preta. About a dozen members participated in the protest, while the group’s president Kou Meng Pok and several other members handed in a petition to a government official outside Government Headquarters. In the petition, the buyers of the pre-sale flats call for a three-party meeting to resolve their predicament.
The Pearl Horizon residential project has been mothballed since the government decided late last year to axe the ill-fated project’s temporary land concession that had reached its maximum period. The government has repeatedly said that the issue must be solved in strict adherence to the Land Law. The developer is suing the government in court.
