The Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Centre (CPTTM) has set up an international carbon neutral research centre with State Power Investment Corporation Limited (SPIC) at the Guangdong-Macau In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, in order to train carbon neutral personnel and technicians for Macau and the mainland, CPTTM Deputy Director General Chang Chak Io said yesterday.
Chang made the remarks after addressing an unveiling ceremony for the first stage of the carbon neutral training courses, adding that CPTTM will launch professional carbon neutral management training, starting with seminars and workshops in June, followed by a formal certificate training course in July and August.
According to Chang, quotas for the lessons have no limits, which mainly target local residents, including those from public entities and people from large enterprises, adding that he did not rule out the possibility of launching the training in Macau in the future, depending on the qualifications of the teaching personnel and facilities.
Chang said that the centre also plans to launch a certification course to train carbon emission managers and international certification for carbon compliance officers for enterprises, which will not just be for local residents but also mainlanders living in Hengqin.
Chang pointed out that Macau is at the initial stage of achieving carbon neutrality, adding he hoped this programme would help develop a low carbon economy in Macau through training and certification courses.
