Renowned dance artist Yang Liping will present the Rite of Spring, the statement noted. The show will integrate “Oriental philosophy, symbols and aesthetics”, the statement said, while its creative team will present a “bold and innovative interpretation of the piece”, along with stage effects.
The statement added that On Substance of Time by the Portuguese Contemporary Dance Company will have acclaimed choreographers Vasco Wellenkamp and Miguel Ramalho transform the verses of Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen into dance routines.
The statement pointed out that there will also be a range of local productions to be staged at the festival such as Zhen Hua Sing Cantonese Opera Association’s Bonds of Hato and Stella & Artists’ Club Loneliness, which is done in collaboration with celebrated choreographer Nir de Volff.
