The police have questioned a woman, who hired her husband to work without a work permit, and her husband for working illegally and riding a scooter without a valid driving licence, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Lam Keong said yesterday during a regular press conference in Zape.
According to Lam, the two suspects, both from the mainland, are surnamed Lin, and aged 49. The wife is the owner of a local restaurant.
Lam said police officers on Monday saw the male suspect riding a scooter the wrong way down a one-way street in Toi San district, and so stopped him. Under questioning, the police discovered that he was neither allowed to work in the city, nor did he have a valid driving licence. Denying that he was an illegal worker, he claimed that he had had an argument with his wife, and hence he rode off on the scooter.
