Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes said yesterday that Macau recorded around 34,000 Hong Kong visitor arrivals on Wednesday, the Ching Ming holiday, more than their counterparts from the mainland.
Senna Fernandes made the remarks while speaking to reporters yesterday after attending the launching ceremony of an indoor water park in the Phase 2 development of the Studio City casino-hotel resort in Cotai.
According to Senna Fernandes, Macau recorded around 70,000 visitor arrivals on Wednesday.
The tourism chief said that although the daily average number of visitor arrivals to Macau has currently still not returned to the level recorded in the pre-pandemic year of 2019, the government was “satisfied” with the speed of the ongoing recovery of the city’s tourism sector.
The Macau Government Tourism Office has said that since early this year the recovery of the number of Hong Kong visitors has outpaced the recovery of the number of their mainland counterparts.
