Yu Changjiang, commander of the Sansha military garrison in Hainan province, has been appointed as commander of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Garrison in the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR), the PLA garrison here said in a statement yesterday.
Xi Jinping, chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), signed an order recently for the appointment, Wang Hui, spokesperson for the PLA garrison in Macau, said.
Yu vowed to fully implement the “One Country, Two Systems” principle, perform defense duties in accordance with the Basic Law of the MSAR and the law on stationing troops in Macau, and resolutely safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests as well as Macau’s prosperity and stability. – Xinhua, MPD
