The Public Security Police (PSP) announced on Saturday that their officers continued to crack down on taxi violations between last Wednesday and Friday, ticketing three drivers while referring nine cases involving taxi drivers for being disrespectful to passengers to the Transport Bureau (DSAT) for follow-up.
According to a PSP statement, among the three alleged breaches, two were related to refusal of carriage.
The statement noted that PSP officers also dealt with an illegal taxi case involving unlicensed car hire services, i.e., owners of van-type light goods vehicles and private cars without hire car permits engaging in the business of carrying passengers.
The statement underlined that the taxi sector should always abide by the taxi laws and regulations when transporting passengers and maintain professional ethics while, at the same time, passengers must abide by their responsibilities and obligations stipulated by the law. The statement also stressed that both cabbies and their passengers are required to maintain a good traffic environment.
