The Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) and the Macau Chinese Enterprises Association are collaborating in organising a trainee programme to provide corporate trainee opportunities for young locals for a period of 12 to 36 months, DSAL Employment Department Chief Lei Lai Keng said yesterday.

Lei made the remarks during a press conference yesterday in the DSAL headquarters on Avenida do Dr Francisco Vieira Machado, adding that each trainee can get 10,000 to 17,000 patacas monthly, and applications will be accepted from Monday (April 17) to May 3.

Lei said that a total of 10 companies are participating in the programme, covering areas such as modern finance, information technology (IT) and cultural tourism and commerce, offering 40 apprenticeships, with the aim of selecting outstanding young people as trainees by tailoring training courses to prepare them for their future carreers, according to their intentions and personal expertise.

Lei also said that in the past two years, 26 enterprises under the Macau Chinese Enterprises Association participated in the job placement programme, offering 145 internship positions to local youths, 28 of whom were employed by different enterprises after completing their internships.

The programme is open to Macau residents who have completed tertiary education and obtained a degree in 2019 or later.
