The 2023 Sands China Local Supplier Open Day was held yesterday at The Venetian Macao with around 220 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) participating.

According to a statement provided by the gaming resort operator at yesterday’s event, the company recorded a gross procurement amount of 5.9 billion patacas last year, with 89 percent, or 5.28 billion patacas, going to Macau enterprises and 25 percent going to local SMEs.

The one-day event, which was co-organised with the Macau Chamber of Commerce (widely known as Chung Chung in Cantonese), aimed to provide procurement opportunities for local SME suppliers. It focused on three types of local businesses: local small and micro suppliers, “Made in Macao” companies, and Macau young entrepreneurs.

The booths set up covered food and beverage, technology and gaming, as well as facilities and construction, among others. A Sands Procurement Academy booth was also featured, along with the new Marina Bay Sands Singapore booth, which provided information on the logistics of the international procurement process.

In his speech, Sands China Chief Operating Officer Grant Chum Kwan Lock said: “We remain committed to the growth and development of local SME suppliers, and hope this event results in fruitful collaborations – adding to the strong relationships we have with our existing local suppliers, who daily help us deliver our world-renowned service quality and experiences.”
