Members of the audience at yesterday’s Macau Forum expressed dissatisfaction with the “slow” progress in the government’s diversification of the local economy.
One member of the audience slammed the government for having ignored the development of the city’s environmental protection industry.
However, two of the four guest speakers at the forum acknowledged the government’s effort in diversifying the city’s economy in recent years, one of whom said that the inability of the general population to speak Portuguese was an obstacle for Macau to develop into a business-service platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries (PSCs).
