Macau Nurses Association Vice-President Che Sio Ieng said yesterday that the city’s nursing sector is shorthanded, while a nursing graduate told The Macau Post Daily that so far the public Conde de Sao Januario Hospital Centre had not recruited any nurses this year.

Che made the remarks on the sidelines of an event at Rotunda de Carlos da Maia to celebrate the group’s 30th anniversary and promote geriatric health care.

Che said there are about 2,000 registered nurses in Macau, pointing out that the current ratio of residents to nurses stand at 1,000 to 3.14.
