The Lands and Urban Construction Bureau (DSSCU) said in a statement that its officials, in conjunction with officials from several other government entities, yesterday repossessed an illegally occupied plot of land located next to the Lisboeta Macau complex in east Cotai.
The public plot repossessed yesterday covers an area of 94,010 square metres.
The plot is located east of the Lisboeta Macau complex, and south of the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau complex.
According to the statement, various items has been placed on the plot, such as containers, sand and rocks, as well as construction materials, machinery and waste. In addition, metal huts had been set up and vehicles had been parked on the plot, the statement said.
The statement underlined that DSSCU officials had ordered the occupants to clear all the items and return the plot to the government by a specified date.
The statement said that some of the items had been removed from the plot, such as metal huts, construction materials and containers, before the deadline, but the occupants had still not cleared everything and returned the plot to the government after the deadline. Consequently, the statement said, DSSCU officials, in collaboration with officials from several other government entities, including firefighters and police officers, took action and repossessed the plot yesterday.
After repossessing the plot, the officials put a fence up around the plot and put notice boards up warning people not to illegally occupy the plot, the statement said.
TAccording to Macau’s official urban master plan, the plot is earmarked for tourism purposes.
