The 70th Macau Grand Prix - Family Carnival is slated to take place this weekend at the Coloane Karting Track, according to a statement from the Sports Bureau (ID) yesterday.

Originally, the carnival had been slated to take place last weekend, but was postponed due to “foreseeable unstable weather”.

The statement noted that this weekend’s event marks the first time that it will take place at the karting track, a training base for motorsport in Macau. It will feature a karting experience activity and is open for on-site registration for those aged at least 18 who hold a light motor vehicle driving licence, according to the statement.

The statement added that the event’s participants may also watch karting and motorcycle races at the carnival, while kids at the carnival can participate in interactive games such as “little kart racing drivers and crew members at the circuit”. One can also have a chance to win Grand Prix-themed souvenirs.

Two shuttle bus routes will be arranged to take members of the public to and from the karting track, the statement said. They may catch the shuttle buses at Macao Forum in Zape, Taipa Central Park (near Towers 9-11 of Nova City), and Seac Pai Van Integrated Shopping Centre.

More information, including the shuttle bus schedule, can be found at www.macau.grandprix.gov.mo, the MGP app or by following its Facebook, WeChat and Weibo accounts. More details are also available on the Sport Bureau’s social media pages.

The 70th MGP is slated to take place over two weeks, November 11-12 and 16-19.
