The Macau Customs Service said in a statement on Saturday that it seized 75 cigars when a local man collected his package from the Macau Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT) last Tuesday.
Customs officers checked the package when the man picked it up from a CTT counter at around midday last Tuesday.
The 75 cigars, weighing a total of 1,237 grammes, were seized by a customs officer since the man did not have an import licence, which is required if more cigars are imported than the amount that a person can bring into Macau for personal use. The man said he bought the cigars from the US for about US$300 (about 2,800 patacas).
This photo provided by the Macau Customs Service shows cigars sent to Macau by post seized at a local post office counter when a local man collected and opened the package in front of a customs officer on duty there.
