Upholding its corporate philosophy of “What is taken from the community is to be used for the good of the community”, GEG actively supports the Macau SAR Government’s “Building Macau through Talent Training” policy through multi-pronged approaches. In addition to allocating resources to provide a wide array of holistic development opportunities for its team members, GEG also works closely with different community sectors to organize a variety of activities to support the employment of local residents, foster the sustainable development of the integrated resort industry and contribute to Macau’s development as a “World Center of Tourism and Leisure.”

GEG-DSAL Collaborations to Recruit Nearly 650 Local Elites

To identify and cultivate future talents for Macau, this year, GEG collaborated with the Labor Affairs Bureau of the Macau SAR Government (“DSAL”) and various local organizations in organizing more than 30 different activities such as job fairs, workshops, trainings and lectures that successfully recruited approximately 650 local elites to the GEG family and expanded the talent reserve for the integrated resort industry.

Among the many GEG and DSAL collaborations, GEG hosted four job fairs offering vacancies in food and beverage, environmental services and hotel operations, as well as CV writing and interview skills workshops. During which, human resources experts shared interviewing skills, industry prospects and development trends, and grooming etiquette with the participants on a one-to-one basis, in hopes of boosting their confidence in all aspects and help them get better prepared for future opportunities. Furthermore, the two parties co-hosted an “Integrated Resort Youth Development Program” that provided professional training and on-the-job training to young elites whilst assisting them to obtain international qualifications. As well, GEG also organized engaging activities for over 300 youths at university and tertiary education campuses to strengthen the core competitiveness of local talents and advance the personal and upward development of the younger generation.

Meanwhile, GEG also launched the U-LEAD Graduate Internship Program for the third consecutive year to support the Internship Career Experience Program organized by DSAL. Offering a three-month integrated resorts internship to university graduates, the U-LEAD helped participants develop their professional skills, enhanced their competencies, and assisted them building a solid foundation for their future career.

Cross-departmental Experiences

Aligned with Macau’s steadfast development as a “World Center of Tourism and Leisure,” GEG also continued to build a vertical and horizontal occupational development platform by offering its team members with a series of career development programs for reaching newer heights in their professional journey. Among these initiatives, GEG curated a six-week secondment program to support team members to voluntarily gain cross-departmental work experiences and professional skills training in different non-gaming areas. Through its offering of a variety of enriching activities, GEG hoped to encourage team members to step out of their comfort zones and become versatile while pursuing their professional career and acquiring a holistic knowledge about the non-gaming sectors. To date, the program has recorded more than 1,500 participants.

Guided by experienced human resources professionals, team members conducted self-evaluations and obtained an in-depth and objective understanding of their personalities, strengths and values, that helped them explore best-fit directions for career development. In addition, GEG also established a departmental mock-room area to help team members gain in-depth understanding of the business functions and operations of different departments, one-on-one team member engagement sessions, and catch-up sessions with different business units to enlighten team members on their career pursuit and personal growth.
