The Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT) said in a statement on Tuesday that it will set up a temporary post counter on May 17 at the General Post Office (GPO) in Largo do Senado to offer a commemorative postmark cancellation service for the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD).
World Telecommunication and Information Society Day has been celebrated annually since 1969.
According to the United Nations’ website, the WTISD helps “raise awareness of the possibilities that the use of the Internet and other information and communication technologies (ICTs) can bring to societies and economies, as well as of ways to bridge the digital divide.”
The statement noted that the temporary post counter will be available from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the date at the GPO’s Philatelic Shop. A commemorative envelope will also be distributed, which members of the public can collect.
