A mainland man holding a table knife robbed a jewellery shop at the Venetian at about 7 a.m. yesterday, according to the Public Security Police (PSP).
The man, who is in his thirties, was arrested shortly afterwards.
Whilst the suspect was fleeing the scene after snatching the money from the shop’s safe, a 35-year-old male staff member who grappled with the suspect was scratched on the neck, the Public Security Police said, adding that security guards of the casino hotel intercepted the robber, who was then transferred to the police.
The Public Security Police noted that the staff member remained conscious while he was admitted to hospital, accompanied by police officers.
PSP officers seized a table knife and a bag containing over one million patacas in cash from the suspect.
