The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) said in a statement yesterday that it is hosting a “new mega familiarisation delegation” to visit Macau that comprises over 50 travel trade representatives from Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.

The delegation’s five-day familiarisation and networking trip ends tomorrow.

In order to organise the delegation, MGTO liaised with the National Association of Travel Agents Singapore (NATAS), the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) and Macau’s tourism representative in Thailand.

The statement noted that the trip includes visits to Macau’s tourist attractions and major integrated resorts, as well as the delegates’ introduction to Macau’s multi-ethnic culinary “signature” delights and the city’s “tourism+” marketing concept.

The delegation also joined MGTO’s Singapore/Malaysia/Thailand Trade Seminar yesterday to discuss business opportunities with 70 representatives from local hotels and travel agencies, among others, the statement underlined. They also brainstormed and tailored tourism products catering to the characteristics of visitors from the three Southeast Asian markets, the statement said.

The statement added that the delegation will visit the Macau Grand Prix Museum today to recommend it to tourists and racing fans in particular, from Southeast Asia.

Since the start of the year, the statement pointed out, MGTO has invited over 330 delegates from the travel trade, media and key opinion leaders (KOLs) from the mainland, Hong Kong, Thailand and South Korea to Macau for familiarisation and fact-finding visits. The local travel trade has also hosted a delegation of their counterparts from Taiwan.

The statement said that MGTO is currently liaising with international online travel agencies on a collaborative project in Southeast Asia. It is also planning to discuss possibilities of launching special packages with airlines operating flights between Southeast Asia and Macau.

The statement added that MGTO is also continuing with its “all-rounded” online-offline marketing campaign in different source markets as Macau continues to reopen.
